EIGHTH GRADERS AT ARCH SLIDESHOW On Friday, May 11th, the 8th grade students, along with Mrs. Frank, Middle School Social Studies teacher, visited The Arch near Kearney where the students took part in a program on the American Civil War. After obtaining enlistment papers and taking the oath of enlistment, "recruits" reported for a health inspection and then learned how to march and maneuver with their weapons. The students also learned of Nebraska's role in the war, medical procedures of the time, women's duties during war, and received basic instruction loading and firing a cannon. Nine students from 6 th , 7 th , and 8 th grade participated in the Thayer Central Math contest again this year. There were 10 schools at the contest and each of them took part in an individual round, a team round, and a quiz bowl round. The scores from each of those rounds are combined for an overall winner of the trophy. 2012 D.A.R.E. graduates Bruning-Davenport is proud to announce its 2012 D.A.R.E. graduates! All 6th grade students recently completed this 13-week program and a graduation ceremony was held April 17th where the students received their certificates. At the ceremony, Caden, Tim, Caitlynn, and Taylor were selected to read their personal essay.
